Action!

Sentences in this book use action verbs and pronouns while posing and then answering who, what, and where questions. For example, for the question "Where can she swim?" a child would read, "She can swim in the pool." Velcro-backed picture cards are used to illustrate and aid comprehension of these questions.

Interactive Reading Books encourage speech development, reading skills, fine motor coordination, and a variety of other functional skills, all in a fun, interactive way. These high-quality reading books have been professionally designed by author Joan Green and illustrator Linda Comerford with the special needs student in mind, although beginning readers of any level can benefit from the positive experiences waiting inside the covers of the books.

Utilizing the power of visual strategies, students learn to associate pictures with words and then create simple sentences by attaching the correct picture cards to the correct squares of each sentence page. Students then reread the sentences aloud (or sign them, or communicate correctly in any other comfortable mode of communication).

Activities in each book have been created for students of varying ability levels. Books come ready to use with velcro-backed picture cards and there is no printing, laminating, or cutting required. Directions are printed on the inside cover of each book.
