This towering 10-block set has action and opposite concepts depicted on the sides of the blocks, providing the pictures and printed words for Simon Says, Follow the Leader, or another game you might invent! Maximize the benefit of playing with these blocks by pointing to (or having a child point to) the printed words as they are named during a game.
To play these games, a child could be shown a block, asked to perform the action on the block, then be rewarded by being allowed to put his/her block on the stack. Acting out the concept helps children to develop comprehension of action words and opposites.
For children who are developmentally ready, sequencing by size from largest to smallest could also be practiced in this game format. Start with the blocks spread randomly on the floor. Then ask the first player of the game to pick the "biggest" block, perform an action, and set the block on the floor. The next child to play should pick the "next biggest" block, perform an action, and set the block on top of the biggest (first) one. The children would continue to pick the blocks in sequence and perform an action until all the blocks had been chosen and stacked. The last one done could have the fun of knocking the blocks down!
Of course, the Simon Says Blocks can be used in individual as well as group activities. The set nests within the largest block which is approximately 5" in diameter. Comes with carrying case and loop handle. Ideal for ages 2 and up.
