Parenting Magazine's "Mom-Tested" 2003 Toy of the Year Winner!
Items to touch and feel are featured in this award-winning 10 block set. As the blocks progress in size, they show items and activities associated with different parts of a preschooler's day from a typical morning routine to reading a story at bedtime, with an explanatory sentence below each picture.
On one side of each block is a familiar object to touch and feel from a segment of the day - a furry pet at preschool, a slippery slide at playtime,a spongy rubber duck at bathtime, and more. These blocks give parents or providers and children a great deal to talk about together - naming the items and activities on each side of the block, describing what the various textures feel like, and talking about the things that happen in a child's day in sequence. Blocks could also be sequenced, this time in a horizontal fashion on the floor, in the way that events occur in your child's day.
Since the blocks are open on the bottom, actual objects representing activities from your child's day could be placed under each block to build more associations and to build in extra fun. Your child may also wish to create a personal storybook about what happens in his/her day, drawing pictures of the things or activities most important to him/her and dictating a sentence or two to be written beneath each picture.
